As a former Appalachian Trail thruhiker, I've been fascinated by the idea of an MST hike. The experience would be much, much different than the AT. My wife (also a thruhiker) and I have hiked a few MST sections, most notably the area around Falls Lake and up at Shining Rock in the mountains.
